About Us

We are a non-denominational church in the Mount Vernon area of Alexandria, Virginia whose mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus. We sum up what we feel we’re called to do this way:

Learn More

1. Know God

God wants to know you personally. More than just practicing a religion, He wants to have a relationship with you. Our Sunday services are where we focus on helping people know God.

3. Discover Purpose

You may not realize it, but you are an important part in God’s plan. Your life may not be making sense at the moment, but we believe that once you discover your purpose things will begin to fall into place. If you don’t know it yet, our Growth Track is designed to help you find out what that purpose is.

2. Find Freedom

We all have things from our past that need to be settled once and for all. God’s process for you to experience freedom from yesterday is to have the right people in your life. Connecting with the church through Small Groups is how we find life-changing community at WCC.

4. Make A Difference

This step is God’s ultimate plan for your life – to make a difference in the lives of others. When you make a positive impact on people’s lives by doing what you not only enjoy, but what you do well, the Bible says that your joy will be complete- and who doesn’t want that! At WCC our people are making a difference on Sundays and through the week on our Dream Teams. We hope to connect every person to an opportunity to live their calling by serving others.

Washington Community Church is committed to unity, liberty, and love in Jesus Christ.

Who We Are

We seek unity in essential beliefs.

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called – one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians 4:2-6

We value this scripture and seek to practice it at WCC.

We value liberty in non-essential beliefs.

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.“ 1 TIM 1:5 Message Bible

We pursue love in all things.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35
“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have a faith that can move mountains but have not love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2
“The whole point of what we’re urging is simply love—love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God.” 1 Timothy 1:5 Message

Washington Community Church is founded on essential beliefs that shape who we are in Christ.

Our Essential Beliefs

There is one God, eternally existing in three co-equal Persons, namely the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Romans 8; Ephesians 1:13-14

God, out of love for His children, sent His son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, and to rise from the dead.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Salvation is a free gift of God. The death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. All have sinned, but all can be saved. This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord.

Romans 3:23, 6:23; John 3:16

Those trusting Christ should repent of sin, confess their faith, and be baptized.

Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38

The church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the task of reaching the lost and discipling the saved, helping them become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Ephesians 4:1-16

Christ will one day return and reign forever.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

When we die, we will either be separated from God by sin or united with Him eternally through faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

John 3:16; John 14:1-3; Revelation 20:10,15

The Bible is the inspired word of God and is the final authority in life and doctrine.

2 Timothy 3:16
